Immediate employment opportunity for a qualified Field Service Technician who will be responsible for performing start-up services, troubleshooting and repair activities on natural gas and light oil-fired industrial boilers and related equipment in the field and at client' s storage facilities located throughout the country. Typical duties include initial start-up and combustion tuning on rental and new boilers utilizing Allen Bradley PLC and/or Siemens 353 controllers, performing service calls and troubleshooting on boilers, feedwater systems, water softeners and air pollution control equipment.  Field Service Technician will work from home office and can be located either in Atlanta, Birmingham or Houston.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Utilizes test equipment, meters, and ones mechanical abilities to fire boilers and related equipment to ensure proper operation prior to and during installation.

Performs independent start-up of boilers and related equipment.

Assists Service team in conducting field service calls to perform start-ups, troubleshooting, or other service related activities as needed.

Performs basic electrical and mechanical repairs on boilers and auxiliary equipment.

Communicates well to new and existing customers to determine the nature of boiler specific problems, provide equipment training, explain services and operations, and provide engineering support.

Completes required field service reports which document work performed, nature of problems, hours worked, etc.

Develops and maintains good customer relations and rapport.  Looks for new sales opportunities and equipment improvements.  Promotes client company  and its associates in a favorable way.

Exhibits a commitment to provide exceptional customer service.

Requires extensive overnight travel and overtime. Sometimes over weekends especially for international work.

General Knowledge & Equipment Skills

Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in industrial steam and power plant operations.

Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, contractors, and sales personnel.

Familiarity using electrical and mechanical testing equipment.

Must be very knowledgeable and familiar with Allen Bradley PLC.

Preferred Requirements

College degree in either of the following fields of study or at least 5 years of relevant work experience:

Facilities Engineering Technology

Marine Engineering Technology

Mechanical or Chemical Engineering

Must possess a valid passport, driver’ s license and U.S. Citizenship. This position reports to  Service Manager.
