Lead Planner & Scheduler

Responsibility- Responsible for the validation and analysis of the planning and scheduling performed by contractors executing the design and construction of a major petrochemical processing facility to be built in the U.S.

Job Description-
  • Oversee schedule control for OSBL part of the overall project
  • Perform analysis of contractor schedules, testing logic, verifying the accuracy of updates
  • Prepare critical path analysis
  • Generate reports from Primavera that identify open-ends, track changes to logic, and determine out-of-sequence work
  • Assist in the development of, and implement a project Work Breakdown Structure that meets the requirements of the project, identifying activities and deliverables by discipline, and accounting for the complete scope of work
  • Interface with project management and the contractor scheduling staff
  • Work with engineering and construction representatives to assure that the schedule represents the execution plan
  • Facilitate the change management process by evaluating schedule impact estimating for changes and variances
  • Utilize 3 week look-ahead schedules to help manage the work
  • Assist with the schedule impact estimating for identified risks
  • Develop a milestone schedule that identifies all key, critical, and contractual project milestones
  • Review the schedule data, performing progress analysis to validate the value of work done
  • Review actual costs as incurred and analyze whether it is aligned with the schedule progress
  • Perform what-if analysis, workaround identification, float analysis, and critical path identification, and recommend any corrective actions needed to mitigate unfavorable deviations
  • Assist in the development of staffing plans, based upon a resource loaded schedule
  • Assure that Planning and Scheduling deliverables meet all contract expectations for each phase of the project and also meets the construction driven execution approach
  • Prepare schedule risk analysis using Pertmaster or Acumen Fuse
  • Prepare detailed analysis of contractors’ progress – engineering and construction
  • Other ad-hoc tasks at the direction of Project Controls Manager

 

Qualifications Required-
  • Bachelor degree in engineering, construction, or business
  • 20+ years major downstream project experience in a related capacity
  • OSBL experience for downstream onshore oil and gas projects
  • Good organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with a strong commitment to safety
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Proficient with Primavera Project Planner version 6.2 or higher, advance user with ability to independently perform resource loading, data in/out from P6, interface with cost system
  • Ability to work with peers, contractors, and a wide variety of skilled professionals
  • Positive attitude and high ethical standards

 

Preferred Qualifications

 
  • Experience of Primavera database management and the implementation of fully integrated scheduling using multiple contractors
  • Experience in working and facilitating the change management process for a major project
  • Experience in engineering, procurement, and construction
  • Good understanding of earned value progressing and the basis for rules of credit
  • Knowledge of quantity trending
  • Experience with schedule benchmarking and risk analysis
  • Advance user of Excel

 

Work Location
  • As part of the Client' s team in the Contractor office in Kansas City, MO, for Engineering phase. May need to travel to the project office in the Woodlands, and within USA. Position is expected to transition to construction site in Texas when construction starts.
